Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are you bonded and insured?

A: Yes, and we would not have it any other way. We are a fully bonded and insured member of the Pet Sitters International. That is how you will know we are ready for anything the universe throws our way! .
Q: How do I pay?

A: We think you want to know what you are paying for, so we will send you a monthly invoice at the end of each month detailing your services. Then you can pay by check or credit card. We want to make everything as easy as possible!
Q: Will my dog receive individualized attention?

A: Absolutely. We pride ourselves on our one dog-one pet sitter approach to pet care. You can be sure that we are focusing on your pet.
Q: Do you have boarding facilities?

A: No, we believe in at-home care that is why we have chosen not to have a boarding facility. However, we do have pet care providers who can remain at your home should you need to leave town for an extended period of time. Please telephone us at (773)388-9800 for more information regarding this service.
Q: How long is each service?

A: Our visits are 25 or 45 minutes packed with awesome individual attention.
Q: How long have you been pet sitting?

A: We have been pet sitting since 1996.
Q: What if I need an emergency pet care service?

A: Ideally we ask that you schedule visits according to our reservation policies. But life does not always cooperate. Let us know what you need and we’ll do everything we possibly can to make it happen.
Q: Are there extra costs for services performed on a holiday?

A: We consider the following to be our major annual holidays: New Years Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve Day, and New Years Eve. There is a holiday surcharge for these days.
Q: Are there a minimum amount of services that I must order?

A: No. Our goal is to establish a consistent, long lasting and healthy relationship with your pet(s), but we understand that every person and every pet has different needs.
Q: How do you hire?

A: Very carefully! Dog walking is a pretty fun job so we get a lot of people interested in working for us. First, we carefully screen all applicants. We interview only the very best. After successful interviews, we check references and do background checks. The next step is an extensive training process, which includes Dog Walk U. Training is followed by a probationary period. We find this careful process helps ensure that our staff is amazing.
Q. What is up with the Meet & Greet?

A: The Meet & Greet is an initial visit with a member of the office staff that allows you to meet us and allows us to meet you and your furry friends. During this visit, we will go over all of the details, pick up keys, and answer all of your pet care questions, except why it is that a dog biting his own tail has no idea that it is his own tail. This visit is free of charge!
Q. My pet has been aggressive in the past - can she still be a client?

A: For aggressive pets, our owners will interview you and your pet, in person, to determine if there is a good fit between your pet and our services. There is no charge for this visit. If additional visits are needed to socialize your pet with our pet care provider, then you will need to be present at all visits and pay the normal service fee until socialized. If at any time our pet sitter or owners feel that it is unsafe to perform a service, we will reserve the right to discontinue service without notice.
Q. Can you give my pet his medicine?

A: Do to the stress on the animal, we strongly urge you to administer all medications to your pet. However, when that is not possible and your pet needs its medicine then we will attempt to administer medicine orally, only. If, in the opinion of our pet sitter, more harm than good will result from medicine administration, the animal will not receive the medicine.
Q. How to I add or cancel a reservation?

A: Call or email us anytime! We try to be the most available pet care service out there. That means you can reach us one way or another all of the time. We do ask that you observe our reservation deadlines.

Q. Why do you need two sets of keys?

A: Because we cant walk dogs we cant get to. Two sets of keys ensures that no matter what happens, your pets will receive the care they need. There is nothing sadder than a broken key and a barking dog on the other side of the door.
Q. How will your pet providers discipline my pet, if necessary?

A: Out-U-Go! believes in positive reinforcement for pets. We will never hit, spank, slap, yank the leash, yell or grab your pet. If there is a disciplinary problem, i.e. toilet training issues, running away, etc., you will be informed of the incident(s) and we will implement your suggested disciplinary actions.
Q. What are your service area?

A: Out-U-Go! currently services most of downtown Chicago: including Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Gold Coast, Old Town, Wrigleyville, West Loop, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Streeterville, and Andersonville. We are continuously expanding. So please contact us if you do not see your area listed.
